Passport Validity

Most travelers to Greece will need a passport. If you are a citizen of the EU traveling direct to Greece, a passport is not required, as long as you have your EU identity card with Latin characters (you may want to travel with your passport as well).

Your passport must:

  • Be valid for three months after your departure date from Greece, but six months is recommended.
  • Have at least one blank page for stamps.

While Greek law requires three months of passport validity beyond the intended date of your departure, if you are transiting a country that requires six months of validity, you may not be permitted to continue your trip. We recommend that you have at least six months of validity to avoid any travel disruptions.

Passport Processing Times:

  • Standard: 6–8 weeks
  • Expedited: 2–4 weeks (additional cost)

Review Entry Requirements

Visas are not required for travel to Greece. However, you may fly through other countries that have different entry requirements. Make sure to review if any of your connecting flights are through countries that require entry visas. All travel visas are your responsibility.

Travel or Exit Visas

Some countries require you to apply to leave the country. Current delays in processing can cause this process to take months to obtain. Here’s what you can do:

  • If your country requires an appointment, schedule your appointment now.
  • As soon as winners are announced, contact WinnersCircle@itagroup.com to request assistance in gaining a visa letter of invitation.

Best Practices

Keep these tips in mind:

  • The name on your identification/passport must exactly match the name on your airline ticket, including any middle name or middle initial.
  • Some countries require your passport to have two to four blank visa/stamp pages for entry, and airlines may not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.
  • It’s a good idea to take pictures of your identification/passport with your mobile device or make color copies to keep at home and in your luggage. This will expedite the process of getting a replacement passport if it is lost or stolen while traveling.
